DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court cost and fees: $144.00 non-school zone or $169.00 if in a school zone (tickets issued after 01/01/2020). Mailed payment must be money order or cashier's check only. Plus ~$12.00 to DPS for the Type 3A certified driving record.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed and signed Request and Affidavit for a Driving Safety Course (notarized before a Texas Notary)
- •Copy of current proof of financial responsibility (auto liability insurance)
- •Copy of driver's license or military ID
- •Uniform certificate of course completion (original certificate; must reflect course completed for the City of Keene)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of Texas DPS driving record, record type 3A
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must elect/request the driving safety course on or before the answer date on the citation. Eligibility: no DSC within the past 12 months, no CDL, and not traveling more than 24 mph over the posted speed.
- •Completion window: 90 calendar days from the date the request is received by the Court to complete the course and file the certificate of completion plus the Type 3A driving record. NO EXTENSIONS are given..
- •Court fax: 817-556-2060.
- •Do NOT start a driving safety course until you have requested and received court approval.
- •Affidavit must be notarized before a Texas Notary.
- •National Safety Council and AARP courses are NOT approved; the course must be TDLR/TEA-approved.
