To Request Approval — Submit These

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Certified copy of Texas DPS Driving Record (Type 3A) — submitted after course completion
  • Uniform Certificate of Completion from a TEA-approved Driving Safety Course — submitted after course completion

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Within 20 business days from the date cited OR before the appearance date listed on the citation — whichever is earlier
  • You have 90 days from court approval (standard Texas statutory window; confirm exact deadline on your court approval notice) to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • Request must be made by MAIL or ONLINE prior to the expiration of the 20 business day period allowed to appear on the citation (per burlesontx.com/550, citing Tex. Code Crim. Proc. §45.051(b-1)).
  • The request must be made 'in person or in writing' per the court's eligibility page.
  • NO-CONTACT OPTIONS are available: online portal and mail are explicitly promoted by the court so defendants need not enter the building.
  • DSC option not available if: (1) you hold a CDL or held one at the time of the offense; (2) the offense occurred in a construction zone with workers present; (3) you were cited for speeding 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit; (4) you have taken a DSC for another citation dismissal within the past 12 months or are currently taking one for a separate violation.
