DSC Court Fees
⚠ Standard moving violation DSC fee is $144.00; school zone citations are $169.00. Fee must be paid at time of request.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of valid liability insurance
- •Valid Texas driver's license (defendants 17+)
- •DSC fee ($144 standard / $169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •court copy of the course completion certificate
- •certified copy of Type 3A driving record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be received in person or by certified mail by the initial appearance answer date (within 10 business days of the citation); after that date you are no longer eligible.
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and submit documentation after the request is granted..
- •Do NOT pay the citation online if you intend to request DSC or deferred disposition — paying online forfeits eligibility. Contact the court first.
- •A phone call does not constitute an appearance; you must appear in person or submit a written request within 10 business days.
- •Ineligible if: speeding more than 25 mph over the limit; holding a CDL; completed a DSC within the past 12 months; construction zone offense with workers present; passing a school bus; or a hit-and-run charge.
- •Failure to complete within 90 days triggers a show-cause notice, the full fine/costs become due, a possible arrest warrant, and a conviction.
