DSC Court Fees
⚠ $169 applies to school zone speeding OR cell phone use violations. Payment by cashier's check, check, or money order only; the DSC fee can't go on a payment plan.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed affidavit requesting DSC with a guilty or no-contest plea
- •Sworn statement of no DSC in the past 12 months
- •Copy of current insurance (in your name or you listed as a driver)
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •DSC fee payment
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •signed completion certificate
- •certified Type 3A driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Affidavit, plea, sworn statement, and payment due on or before the citation due date (appearance date).
- •Completion window: 90 days after approval to complete a TDLR-approved course and submit the certificate and certified driving record; failure triggers a show-cause hearing and possible warrant..
- •Ineligible: CDL holders, work-zone violations, speeding 25+ over or 95+ mph, passing a stopped school bus, leaving the scene.
- •Requires a Type 3A Certified Complete Driving History from DPS (allow 3–6 weeks).

- •DSC fee is not payment-plan eligible.
