Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed DSC request form (plea of no contest / not guilty)
- •DSC completion certificate (Texas-approved course)
- •Payment of court costs
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of driving record from DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request DSC on or before the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval.
- •Handles Class C misdemeanor traffic citations issued by DPS, sheriff, or constable on county roads under Tex. CCP Art. 45A.
- •DSC eligibility: Texas-licensed driver, rules-of-the-road violation (speeding, stop sign, red light, seat belt, etc.), no CDL, citation not in a school zone or construction zone (standard), and no more than one DSC dismissal in the preceding 12 months.
