How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of insurance listing you as a driver
- •Applicable DSC fee ($144 standard / $169 school zone)
- •Completed Request for a Driving Safety Course form
- •Completed Affidavit for a Driving Safety Course form
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request the driving safety course by your first appearance date shown on the citation.
- •Completion window: Court grants a deferral period of 90 to 180 days to complete the course (standard TX rule is 90 days — confirm with the court)..
- •Ineligible if you took a driver's safety course in the last 12 months or are currently taking one.
- •Ineligible if you hold a CDL.
- •Ineligible if cited for 25+ over, passing a school bus, or a work zone with workers present.
