DSC Court Fees
⚠ $149.00 includes state court costs and administrative fees and is subject to change by State law. A certified DPS driving record costs $12.00 (paid to DPS). The course provider fee is additional.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed 'Request to Take Driver Safety Course' form
- •Plea of Guilty or No Contest
- •Valid Texas Driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Signed affidavit confirming no DSC for dismissal in the prior 12 months
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of completion from a TEA-approved course
- •Certified copy of your DPS driving record ($12.00 fee to DPS)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request within twenty (20) days of the date the citation was issued; a completed request form must be submitted before the request is considered.
- •Completion window: After approval and payment, complete the course and submit the certificate plus a certified DPS driving record within 90 days. No extensions..
- •Do NOT take a driving safety course without first obtaining the court's permission.
- •Ineligible: CDL holders; speeding 25+ over; work zone with workers present; passing a school bus; reckless driving; fleeing/eluding; accident with vehicle damage; duty to give info/render aid; serious traffic violations.
- •Limited to one DSC dismissal in any 12-month period (sign affidavit).
