⚠ Court publishes the breakdown: $134.00 court costs plus a $10.00 dismissal fee due at the time of request. A school zone violation adds $25.00. No extensions or payment plans are available for this payment.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Current/valid Texas Driver's License
- •Valid auto liability insurance with your name on the policy
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of Completion from the 6-hour driving safety course
- •Certified Texas driving record (by mail via court request form for $10, or online from Texas DPS for $12)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Make a timely request before your court date.
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date of the court's order to complete the course and submit the certificate and driving record..
- •Driver must enter a plea of guilty or no contest to be eligible.
- •Ineligible if a dismissal/driving safety course was completed in the prior 12 months.
- •Ineligible if cited for 25+ mph over, holding a commercial or out-of-state license, or if the violation occurred in an active construction zone.
- •Course is six hours; failure to submit the certificate and driving record by the deadline is deemed a failed course.
