DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court cost fee is paid after DSC request is processed (3–5 business days). Two additional documents are sent by court after payment is received and must be signed and returned within 48 hours.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas Driver's License (or valid out-of-state license if active military family member)
- •Proof of financial responsibility / liability insurance (must be in defendant's name or defendant listed as authorized driver)
- •Completed and signed DSC Affidavit PDF (Art. 45.0511(c)(3), CCP) — available at https://www.sanmarcostx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2598
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (TDLR-approved course; DPS-approved if motorcycle operator course)
- •Texas DPS Type 3A Driving Record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before the appearance date shown on the citation
- •You have Set by court at time of approval — court-specified deadline; extension possible only by judge upon showing of good cause to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Processing takes 3–5 business days after the request is received. Defendant may call to confirm receipt.
- •After court costs are paid, the court sends two additional documents that must be signed and returned within 48 hours.
- •If the request is incomplete (missing any required items), the DSC request will NOT be processed.
- •Eligibility requires: valid TX driver's license (or valid out-of-state license if active military family); no DSC taken or requested in the last 12 months for any other court; not currently taking DSC for another violation in any court.
