⚠ Standard moving violations and speeding: $144; school/construction zone violations: $169.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
- •Official DSC completion certificate (after the course)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Written notice to the court on or before your court date. You lose the right to request DSC if you don't give written notice on or before your court date.
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and return to the court with an official DSC certificate..
- •Do not take the course before submitting your request to the court.
- •DSC applies to only ONE charge in a one-year period; not available if you took a DSC within the prior 12 months.
- •Must plead guilty or nolo contendere.
- •Ineligible: CDL or out-of-state license, speeding 25+ over, reckless driving, or work-zone with workers.
