DSC Court Fees
⚠ The court charges a $144.00 State Tax and Processing fee for the driving safety course; if the speeding violation occurred in a school zone the fee is $169.00.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license (or active-duty U.S. military member)
- •Proof you have not taken a driving safety course or motorcycle operator training course within the prior 12 months
- •TDLR-approved uniform certificate of defensive driving completion listing Taylor Lake Village Municipal Court (submitted after completion)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: The court must approve your request before you take the course or obtain your driving record (request on or before your appearance date).
- •Completion window: Present the TDLR-approved uniform certificate of completion by the 90th day after the request is approved..

- •CDL holders may NOT take a DSC for dismissal.
