Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Copy of current insurance card showing you as a listed driver
- •Citation number
- •Plea choice (guilty or no contest)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: In person on or before the court date; by email no later than 2 business days before the court date. After the request, the court emails documents to sign via DropBox, due by 4:00 p.m. on the request date.
- •If cited for speeding 25+ over, 95+ mph, or involved in an accident, you must appear in person to request the DSC.
- •Seat-belt / child-seat violations require a DSC that includes four hours of seat belt and child passenger safety instruction.
- •Motorcycle violations require a motorcycle operator training course instead.
- •Ineligible offenses include school bus and work-zone violations; no DSC within the prior 12 months; valid Texas license required (no CDL).
- •Signed documents are returned via DropBox and must be completed by 4:00 p.m. on the request date.
