DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the official court Driving Safety Course page: $144.00 for moving violations and $169.00 for violations in a school zone. All applicable court costs must be paid on the request date.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas non-commercial driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance) in the defendant's name
- •Plea of guilty or no contest
- •Payment of all applicable court costs on the request date
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: In person, on or before the court (appearance) date.
- •Completion window: Not published by the court; standard Texas default is 90 days after approval — confirm with the clerk..

- •Eligibility: must NOT have taken a DSC within 12 months of the offense date; valid Texas non-commercial license and proof of financial responsibility in their name.
- •Ineligible offenses: 25+ mph over; accidents involving vehicle damage; construction/maintenance work zone; passing a school bus; failure to give information and render aid.
- •Resets granted over the phone — only ONE reset, prior to the court date; trials cannot be rescheduled.
