DSC Court Fees
⚠ Official court site lists a $144.00 court and administrative fee for a standard offense and $169.00 if the offense was committed in a school zone. A separate $10.00 fee is payable to Texas DPS for the required certified driving record.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license (CDL not eligible)
- •Proof of liability insurance / financial responsibility in your name
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of your Texas driving record (Type 3A) — obtained by submitting a form with $10.00 to DPS in Austin
- •Certificate of completion of an approved driving safety course (submitted as proof after finishing)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on your citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and submit proof to the court..
- •Eligibility: valid Texas operator's license (CDL excluded); liability insurance in your name; no DSC for dismissal in the prior 12 months; not currently authorized by another court to take a DSC; not charged with 25+ mph over; must notify the court on or before the citation appearance date.
