DSC Court Fees
⚠ Administrative fee must be paid up front before taking the course; $144 for regular zones, $169 for school zones. DSC fees cannot be paid through the online payment portal — contact the court directly.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Plea of guilty or no contest (entered before taking the course)
- •Proof of insurance
- •Valid Texas Driver's License or active duty military ID
- •Court copy of completion certificate from a Texas Education Agency-approved driving safety course
- •Signed, notarized affidavit confirming you are not taking a driving safety course through another court
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Type 3A certified driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must enter a plea and pay the administrative fee to request the course; eligibility requires not having completed a DSC dismissal within the past 12 months.
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and submit all required documents..
- •Ineligible offenses: leaving the scene of an accident, passing a stopped school bus, commercial vehicle violations, construction/work zone offenses, and speeding 25+ mph over the limit.
- •Cannot use DSC for dismissal if a driving safety course was completed for dismissal within the past 12 months.
- •Failure to complete within 90 days or provide all required documents results in a show cause hearing.
- •Mailing address (P.O. Box 247) differs from the physical/court address (242 N. Preston Ave.); the city also lists court line 903-482-5426 and fax 903-482-0328.
