DSC Court Fees
⚠ The $144 ($169 in a school zone) is the court cost paid before taking the course. Deferred disposition is a separate option (court costs $134 / $159 in a school zone plus a $50 special expense fee); drivers age 25 and under who choose deferred disposition must also complete a DSC.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Color copy of valid Texas driver's license (or active duty military ID)
- •Current proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your appearance date
- •Court meets on the 4th Thursday of every month. Presiding Judge: Hon. Britton Brooks; Court Clerk: Tammy Phillips.
- •You are NOT eligible for DSC if you: held a CDL at the time of the offense; exceeded the speed limit by 25+ mph; passed a school bus; committed the offense in a construction zone with workers present; left the scene of an accident; or completed a DSC within the previous 12 months.
- •Drivers age 25 and under who request deferred disposition are required by state law to complete a DSC.
- •Paying your citation without requesting DSC results in a conviction on your state driving record.
- •Online payment portal (FastGovPay) accepts credit/debit cards with a 3.5% service charge.
