DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs must be paid before taking the course or the certificate will NOT be accepted. No online payments for DSC — pay in person or by phone.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Options/Plea page from citation handout
- •Completed Affidavit for Driver's Safety Course (DSC request page from citation handout)
- •Copy of Texas driver's license
- •Current proof of insurance listing defendant as a covered driver
- •Military personnel may substitute state DL + military ID
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must contact court no later than the court date listed on the citation ('on or before' date).
- •Completion window: 90 days from court's instruction letter to complete a Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved course and submit certificate of completion + Type 3A driving record..

- •DSC not available if: cited for speeding 25+ mph over limit, hold a CDL, hold an out-of-state license, cited in a school zone, passing a school bus or emergency vehicle, disregarding a stop sign, leaving the scene of an accident, wrong-way driver, or had no insurance at time of stop.
- •After submitting the packet by email or mail, wait for the court's email instruction letter before calling to pay. Court costs must be paid prior to taking the course.
- •No online payments for DSC; pay in person at 4525 Elementary Drive or by phone at (903) 868-9420.
