DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court cost is non-refundable. If the defendant fails to submit all required evidence within the specified time, the court will require payment of the fine set at $200.00 and report the offense as a conviction.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed 'Request for Driving Safety Course' form (plea of nolo contendere, jury trial waiver, sworn affidavit)
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Court cost of $144.00 ($169.00 if school zone), non-refundable
- •Driving safety course completion certificate
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of driving record from Texas DPS, submitted by the 90th day from request
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be entered on the defendant's appearance date; the affidavit must state the defendant was not currently taking and had not completed a DSC within the prior 12 months.
- •Completion window: Course must be completed within 90 days of the request; the certified driving record must also be submitted by the 90th day..
- •Eligibility must be confirmed with the court before paying the citation; DSC and deferred disposition are both offered.

- •Defendant must sign a sworn affidavit confirming they were not taking a DSC and had not completed one within the past 12 months.
