Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license (CDL holders not eligible)
- •Proof of insurance
- •Plead guilty or nolo contendere
- •Course Completion Certificate from an approved course (present before end of the 90-day period)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date; the request must be made before signing for or taking a course.
- •Completion window: 90 days (prosecution postponed 90 days to complete the course and present the Course Completion Certificate)..
- •Request must be made by email to tikicourt@comcast.net BEFORE taking or signing up for a course.
- •Eligibility per the court's page: no DSC within the 12 months preceding the offense; not currently taking a DSC for another violation; not speeding 25+ mph over; no disqualifying convictions (failure to provide accident information, leaving the scene, fleeing police, reckless driving, or passing a school bus); valid TX license; proof of insurance.
