DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the court's official Mandatory Driver's Safety Course Application: $129.00 for a moving violation, $154.00 for a school-zone moving violation (for violations on or after January 1, 2020). Payment must be a non-refundable check, money order, or cashier's check payable to 'Clear Lake Shores Municipal Court.'
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed and signed DSC application
- •Photocopy of current auto liability insurance card
- •Photocopy of valid Texas Driver's License (military exemption available)
- •Original signed and notarized Defensive Driving Affidavit
- •Non-refundable check, money order, or cashier's check payable to 'Clear Lake Shores Municipal Court'
- •Course Completion Certificate (presented before the end of the 90-day period)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date listed on your citation; you lose the right if you fail to notify the court by then.
- •Completion window: Prosecution is postponed 90 days to complete the course; the Course Completion Certificate must be presented before the end of that period..

- •Eligibility: no DSC completed in the 12 months preceding the citation date; not a CDL holder; not charged with 95+ mph, 25+ mph over, passing a school bus, failing to stop and render aid, or an offense in a construction zone with workers present.
- •Juvenile cases cannot request DSC by mail — the juvenile must appear in court with a parent or guardian.
- •The court mails the terms of the defensive driving disposition after reviewing the application.
