DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs of $129.10, or $154.10 if the offense was committed in a school zone; both amounts include a $10 administrative fee.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Payment of court costs ($129.10, or $154.10 if in a school zone)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Texas driver's license or permit, OR proof of active-duty U.S. Military service
- •Driving safety course completion certificate (presented after the course, within the 90-day deferral period)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Written notice of the request must be given to the Court by the appearance date on the citation, in person, by counsel, or by certified mail.
- •Completion window: Case is deferred for 90 days, during which you must complete a TEA-approved driving safety course and present the completion certificate to the Court..
- •DSC may be used to dismiss only ONE moving traffic offense.
- •Drivers under age 17 must appear in open court with a parent or guardian to make the request.
- •Not eligible if you took a course for a traffic offense within the prior 12 months, are currently taking a course for another violation, or hold/held a CDL.
- •Online payment (trafficpayment.com) is for fines/payment only — the DSC request must be made in person, by counsel, or by certified mail.
