To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Original court copy of a Driving Safety Course completion certificate from a TDLR-certified provider — must be signed and must have 'Sugar Land Municipal Court' listed as the court
  • Proof of financial responsibility (insurance with defendant's name on the policy) — required at time of DSC request
  • Valid, non-commercial Texas driver's license or permit (or active-duty U.S. military documentation)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Certified (Type 3A) copy of driving record from Texas DPS

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • On or before the appearance date on the citation; request must be made before taking the course
  • You have 90 days from court approval (both DSC certificate and Type 3A driving record must be submitted together by the 90th day on the DSC order) to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • Do NOT select 'Pay Now' online if requesting DSC — select 'Explore Options' instead or you will waive your right to DSC and a conviction will be entered.
  • Once approved, instructions and deadline are mailed (if requested by mail) or emailed (if requested online) within 3–5 business days.
  • Both the DSC completion certificate AND the Type 3A driving record must be submitted TOGETHER to the court by the due date on the DSC order.
  • The DSC certificate must be signed and must have 'Sugar Land Municipal Court' listed as the court on the certificate.
