DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court cost of $144.00 must be paid at the time of the DSC request. Separately, the state charges a $10 fee to obtain your driving record (Type 3A); the TEA-approved course provider charges its own course fee.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed course completion certificate from a Texas Education Agency (TEA)-approved driving safety course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Copy of your Texas driving record (Type 3A) obtained from the State
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request the DSC on or before your appearance date. You may not attend a course until the Court grants the request.
- •Completion window: If granted, the case is suspended for 90 days, during which you must complete the DSC, obtain your state driving record, and return both the driving record and the signed completion certificate to the Court..
- •You may not attend a Driver's Safety Course until your request has been granted by the Court.
- •You may attend any class approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
- •The Court will provide a form to request your driving record from the State, or you may request it online at texas.gov (Type 3A only).
