Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • On or before your appearance/arraignment date on the citation; DSC not available once that deadline passes without prior request
  • You have 90 days from court approval/DSC order to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • Per Standing Order No. 4 (Rev. 01/05/2026): 'PERSONS WITH A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A DRIVER'S SAFETY COURSE DEFERRAL FOR VIOLATION RELATED TO MOTOR VEHICLE CONTROL.'
  • Per Standing Order No. 4: 'ANY JUDGMENT PROCESSED IN ERROR WILL BE RESCINDED AND THE DEFENDANT WILL BE NOTIFIED OF A NEW COURT DATE.'
  • DSC references in Standing Orders include the Motorcycle Operator Course, per Art. 45A.352, TEX. CODE CRIM. PROC.
  • A defendant who has completed a DSC within the past 12 months from the date of the current citation is ineligible.
