DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court DSC fee is $144 in a regular zone or $169 in a school zone, due upon court approval of the request (plus applicable court costs).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid non-CDL Texas driver's license (photo/copy)
- •Proof of current liability insurance
- •Plea of Guilty or No Contest
- •State-approved Driver Safety Course completion certificate
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Type 3A certified driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made on or before the appearance date listed on the citation.
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit the completion certificate and driving record..
- •Do NOT take a driver safety course before obtaining court permission.
- •Ineligible: CDL holders; speeding 25+ mph over the limit (or 95+ mph); construction/work zone with workers present; school bus passing; fleeing police; hit-and-run; and other serious violations.
- •Cannot have completed a DSC for dismissal within the 12 months prior to the offense date.
- •Failure to complete within the window results in a show cause hearing.
