To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Valid Texas driver's license (photocopy for mail/online)
  • Printed copy of valid insurance showing you as a covered driver
  • Completed Driving Safety Course Request Form
  • Payment of $144 court fee
  • Attestation that you have not completed a DSC for dismissal in any Texas court in the previous 12 months

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
  • Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: Request must be submitted before the due date/appearance date on your citation.
  • Completion window: Complete a TDLR-approved 6-hour driving safety course and submit the uniform certificate of completion plus a certified driving record (Type 3A from Texas DPS) within 90 days of the request..
  • Court approval is required BEFORE taking the course; do not enroll first.
  • Eligibility: valid TX license/permit; no CDL at time of offense; no DSC completed for dismissal in any TX court in prior 12 months; valid proof of insurance.
  • Ineligible if violation was in a construction/work zone with workers present (except passing a school bus), or if cited speed was 25 mph or more over the limit.
  • Court fax: 469-375-5905.
