How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed affidavit stating compliance with DSC eligibility requirements
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Valid Texas Driver License
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Original (court copy) Certificate of Completion from a TEA/TDLR-approved Texas driving safety course
- •Certified copy (Record Type 3A) of your driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request and pay within 20 calendar days from the date the citation was issued, or by your appearance date, in person or by mail. Must enter a plea of Guilty or No Contest.
- •Completion window: Submit proof of course completion and certified driving record within 90 days from the date of payment..
- •Must obtain court permission BEFORE taking the driving safety course.
- •Not eligible if you have taken a DSC for ticket dismissal within the 12 months prior to the date of this citation.
- •Course must be approved by the TEA or TDLR and is a minimum of 6 hours.
