How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Request-for-Driver-Safety-Course form (submitted before court date)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Court Certificate of Completion from a state-approved DSC provider
- •Certified copy of Texas driving record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the court date shown on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval.
- •DSC not available if cited for speeding 25+ mph over the limit, if a CDL holder, or if DSC was completed within 12 months preceding the offense date.
- •Drivers under 25 required to complete defensive driving as part of Deferred Disposition.
- •Deferred Disposition (probation not to exceed 6 months) is an alternative to DSC for eligible moving violations; request must be made before due date.
- •Compliance dismissal available for expired registration or license violations if resolved within 10 business days.
