⚠ Fee is $129.10 standard, or $154.10 if the violation occurred within a school zone. Pay by money order or cashier's check only (NO personal checks), payable to Columbus Municipal Court.

How to Request DSC Approval

MailMail the completed, notarized REPLY FORM (check Box 2 and complete Section B – Affidavit for Driving Safety Course) with all required enclosures to Columbus Municipal Court, P.O. Box 705, 605 Spring Street, Columbus, TX 78934.

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Completed and NOTARIZED Reply Form (Section A Box 2 + Section B affidavit)
  • Money order or cashier's check (no personal checks) payable to Columbus Municipal Court for the DSC fee
  • Proof of Financial Responsibility (insurance)
  • Valid Texas driver's license (photocopy acceptable — no originals)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • 3A certified copy of your driving record from Texas DPS

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: Request must be entered by the date cited to appear on or before (response/appearance date on the citation)
  • Completion window: Complete a DPS/TEA-approved Driving Safety Course within 90 days of the date the affidavit is notarized; remit the DSC completion certificate to the Court before the expiration of 120 days from the notarized date..
  • Eligibility: must NOT possess a Commercial Driver's License; must hold a valid Texas driver's license or permit; must NOT have taken a driving safety course in lieu of paying a fine in the past 12 months; must NOT currently be taking a DSC to dismiss another offense; violation must NOT have occurred in a construction zone while workers were present.
  • NOT eligible for DSC if accused of speeding 95 mph or more, or speeding 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit.
  • Defendants under 17 years of age must appear with a parent.
  • Court is held in the Council Chambers on the second floor of Columbus City Hall, 605 Spring Street.
