  • Proof of financial responsibility (auto insurance showing minimum required coverage)

  • Type 3A Texas DPS Driving Record (certified copy, submitted with completion documents)

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • You have 90 days from court approval/grant of DSC request to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • DSC request must be made by the appearance date on the citation — do NOT start the course before receiving court approval.
  • Ineligible offenses include: speeding 25+ mph over the limit, no insurance/failure to maintain financial responsibility, leaving scene of collision, passing a school bus, and offenses in a construction zone with workers present.
  • CDL holders at the time of the alleged offense are not eligible for DSC.
  • Plano Municipal Court is a 'court of record' (since July 1, 2012) — appeals go to Collin County Court at Law on the record, not as a trial de novo.
  • Paying your fine online OR requesting an extension to pay constitutes a plea of no contest and waives your right to DSC — do not pay online if you intend to request DSC.
