Standard Texas DSC fee is typically $144 for moving violations and $169 for school zone violations, but varies by court.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of Completion from an approved driving safety course
- •Copy of your driving record (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your initial appearance date listed on the citation
- •Must plead NO CONTEST to the moving violation and request the Court defer proceedings to complete an approved course.
- •Eligibility: valid Texas Class 'C' license or U.S. Military Active Duty; not charged with speeding 25+ mph over the limit; no driving safety course completed within 1 year of the citation date.
- •CDL holders are NOT eligible, whether driving a commercial or personal vehicle.
