DSC Court Fees

How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Payment of court costs plus administrative fee (cash, check, money order, Visa, or MasterCard)
- •Valid non-commercial Texas Driver's License (or active duty military ID including spouses/dependents)
- •Proof of insurance or other evidence of financial responsibility
- •Written sworn statement (affidavit sworn before a Clerk of the Municipal Court) stating you have NOT taken a DSC within the one year preceding the citation date
- •Written plea of guilty or no contest
- •DSC Completion Certificate (6-hour TDLR-approved course) — submitted after course completion
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from TX DPS — submitted after course completion (allow at least 4 weeks if ordering by mail)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before your appearance date on the citation. Any request after the appearance date must be approved by the Judge.
- •You have 90 days from court approval. Both the DSC completion certificate and certified 3A driving record must be returned to the court on or before the 90th day. to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Must have a valid non-commercial Texas Driver's License OR be active duty military personnel (including spouses and dependents).
- •DSC is NOT available if: the violation occurred in a construction zone when workers were present; the violation was speeding 25 mph or more over the posted limit; or you have taken DSC within the past year for a dismissal.
- •If applying by mail, wait until you receive written court approval before taking the course.
- •No extensions are granted for Show Cause Hearings except for emergencies verifiable by a Court Supervisor.
