How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Class 'C' driver's license
- •Proof of financial responsibility (insurance in your name)
- •Certified copy of your DPS driver's record
- •Uniform certificate of DSC completion from a TEA-approved course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Certified Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request the course at or before the appearance date on the citation; you must hold a valid TX Class C license.
- •Completion window: Complete the TEA-approved course and submit the uniform completion certificate by the 90th day after the request..
- •CDL holders are NOT eligible.
- •Ineligible: speeding 25+ over or 95 mph, passing a school bus, work-zone with workers present, leaving the scene, and failure to stop and render aid.
- •On completion within 90 days the charge is dismissed and the court reports the completion to DPS.
