How to Request DSC Approval

In-personAt Municipal Court Clerk's Office, 100 N 13th St., Alpine, TX 79830, on or before the appearance date on your citation.
MailCertified mail to Alpine Municipal Court, 100 N 13th St., Alpine, TX 79830. Must be postmarked on or before the appearance date. Note: telephone calls and fax do not constitute an appearance.

To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Guilty or no-contest plea
  • Payment of $143.90 (court costs and fines)
  • Proof of financial responsibility (current auto insurance)
  • Valid Texas driver's license or permit

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Certified copy of DPS Type 3A Driving Record (must show no DSC taken in preceding 12 months)

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: On or before the appearance date listed on the citation
  • Completion window: 90 days.
  • Court hearings are held at Council Chambers, 803 West Holland Ave, Alpine, TX 79830 (different from the clerk's office at 100 N 13th St.).
  • Minors under 17 must appear in open court with a parent or guardian — mail/certified-mail submission is not available for minors.
  • CDL holders at time of offense are ineligible for DSC.
  • DSC is not available if you have taken a driving safety course for a traffic offense within the preceding 12 months.
