DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court publishes a standard driving safety course fee of $144 and a school-zone fee of $169. A $15 late fee applies if not paid within 30 days of the plea.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License
- •Proof of financial responsibility (valid insurance listing defendant as an insured driver, valid through the 90-day period)
- •Signed affidavit confirming eligibility under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Sec. 45.0511(c)(3)
- •Child restraint/safety course completion if the offense involved an unrestrained child
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of course completion and certified driving record submitted to the court
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date stated on the citation or by the Court's written notice.
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the deferral/request is granted..
- •Official court website redirects from https://sweenytx.gov to https://www.sweenytx.gov.
- •Do NOT pay if requesting the Driving Safety Course and the required paperwork has not been completed and returned (per court instructions).
- •Online payment portal for citations: https://www.fastgovpay.com/sweeny (use only when not requesting DSC).
- •A $15 late payment fee applies if the fee is not paid within 30 days of the plea.
