DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs of $144.00 for violations outside a school zone; $169.00 for violations that occurred in a school zone. A credit card/debit card service fee of 3.95% (minimum $2.50) applies to all card transactions made online.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid, non-commercial Texas driver's license or permit (government-issued photo ID must be presented); OR proof of active U.S. military service (member, spouse, or dependent child) along with out-of-state driver's license
- •Valid insurance card listing the defendant as a driver on the policy
- •Court costs remitted in the required amount ($144 standard / $169 school zone)
- •Signed and notarized DSC Affidavit (Request for Driving Safety Course form — sworn statement that defendant has not completed a DSC within the preceding 12 months and is not currently taking one for another citation)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before the appearance date shown on the citation
- •You have Deadline established by the court upon approval (specific number of days not published — call court or check portal order for exact date) to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •The Killeen Municipal Court allows online DSC requests through its Municipal Online Payments portal (https://killeentx.municipalonlinepayments.com/killeentx) — one of the few courts with a fully online DSC request option.
- •Verbatim from portal: 'The Killeen Municipal Court allows online payments in full, partial payments on existing payment plans, and the ability to request a driver's safety class to dismiss a qualifying violation.'
- •Email requests: the court specifies the email 'must contain photo identification, full name and the citation number.'
- •Verbatim from DSC affidavit form: defendant swears they were 'not taking such a course nor had I completed one within the 12 months preceding the date of my current offense that is not shown on my driving record as maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety.'
