DSC Court Fees
⚠ Juvenile moving violation: $179.00; Juvenile school zone: $204.00. Fees cover state costs and administrative charges; the fine is not paid separately.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
- •Notarized DSC Affidavit form
- •Plea of guilty or nolo contendere with waiver of jury trial
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Original certified SIGNED Course Completion Certificate (Court Copy)
- •Copy of driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the original court date listed on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from the receipt of your request; completion documents due within 10 business days after the due date.
- •Eligibility: no CDL; no DSC taken within the 12 months prior to the offense date; not eligible if a DSC is already being taken for another violation; not eligible if speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph; not eligible for fleeing police, passing a stopped school bus, or accident-related violations.
- •Seatbelt violations require a TDLR-approved seatbelt driver safety course (not a standard DSC).
