Who This Course Is For
Florida drivers with non-criminal moving violations (non-commercial license), court-ordered offenders, or voluntary attendees (max once every 12 months, 5 times lifetime).
Requirements & Deadlines
- Notify county clerk of election within 30 days of citation
- Pay fine/fees
- Cannot have taken BDI in past 12 months or exceeded 5-lifetime limit
- Court typically allows 60–90 days to finish
Submission Details
Certificate Submission: Submit to Clerk of Court in county of ticket
Reporting Method: Providers report completions electronically to DHSMV, but driver must ensure court gets proof
Deadlines: Set by the court (usually 60 days from election); no state grace period
Court vs Insurance Use
For Court / Tickets
Avoids points and conviction; license can be suspended if not completed/reported on time.
For Insurance
Not generally used for discounts. Florida has a separate Mature Driver Course.
